As heard onLaura and I have been on BBC Radio Solent numerous times on various shows and we have always enjoyed the drive over to the Southampton studio, the gossip, networking discussion in the car.  So when I was asked yesterday to do a telephone interview my first thought was woo woo no need for childcare. Until I suddenly realised 2 children, a telephone interview! OMG I can see it now children screaming and fighting, needing a poo .. I could go on!!

So at 2:30 when Radio Solent called to say they were running late I had 10 more minutes, I armed my children with a Fireman Sam DVD, bag of Hula Hoops and a drink, a fully working and totally amazing train track and concluded I would surely be OK for at least 10 minutes!

If your dying to hear my interview and I know you are! Then check it out here  - you will need to forward to 1:49 but as you will hear M&M were angels! Not a peep!

supermumLast month I was awarded Dorset Business Mum of the Year 2010, it got me thinking about the terms ‘business mum’ and ‘mumpreneur’.  Oddly both terms conjure different images/persona to me.  I see a business mum as a mum in business regardless of their child‘s ages or the circumstances of their ‘motherhood‘ (i.e. children are at school full time or even adults. That doesn’t mean they aren’t still special and should be rewarded but I see mumpreneur’s in a different light. A mumpreneur that is someone just like me!! Their business developed after the birth of a child, they juggle children, home life and a business.  I regularly work late at night and take Megan to business meetings.  There’s something a bit more special, community vibed about mumpreneurs.

These are my 4 characteristics every mumpreneur should have:-
  1. Enthusiasm - bucket loads of the stuff!
  2. Sensational multi tasking skills
  3. Be hard working
  4. Be slightly insane!
So what does mumpreneur mean to you??
