For the past two weeks the sun has been shining and Mums with Dads and children in tow were headed for the
Branksome and Southampton Mothercare. The ‘Networking Mummies’ were in town to launch the Dorset edition of the UK’s first and only free magazine for entrepreneurial mums at Mothercare. The Business Mum’s Journal, sponsored by Mumsclub
had arrived.
Women from across Dorset came along; both women with questions on starting up their own new business or volunteer Businessmums sporting Journal t-shirts handing out free copies to mums and balloons to the children, happily offering start up business and PR advice wherever needed. These Mumpreneurs had given up their Saturday, taken time away from their families to be on hand to talk to as many mums as was required.
Dorset editors, Laura Morris and Joanne Dewberry run Networking Mummies Dorset. They are passionate mums in business and are responsible for bringing the Journal to Dorset.
Joanne says “There are thousands of mums all over the UK; the Journal has been so successful in helping mums all over the country that Laura and I were determined to see the same success here in Dorset.”
Laura added “The magazine provides essential business information for anyone- mums or dad’s starting a business and in a friendly and non-business manner, and it is wonderful to have the Local Mothercare stores as well as other local businesses supporting us.”
The day was a great success, Jane Hopkins, creator of both the MumsClub website and The Business Mum’s Journal said;
“The Journal is all about reaching more women with children, we’ve been through a recession - a time when families need to know their options regarding additional incomes and ways to bring more money into their households. The information is out there and readily available; you just need to now where to go and where to click! I am delighted that Laura and Joanne have brought the Journal to Dorset; they have already developed a strong network of business mums here and are clearly passionate about supporting others”
The Business Mum’s Journal is FREE and available NOW throughout the Dorset Mothercare stores and is packed with tips, ideas, inspiration and links to websites that will help anyone start up and build a business around the children.
More ‘Mumpreneur’ events are planned across Dorset over the summer months to reach even more women; all details are posted on the website www.networkingmummiesdorset.co.uk.
