Still high from the epic Comic Relief Danceathon I think I'd pretty much sign up for anything! When the opportunity to dance at Pineapple Studios with Richard Marcel arose I quite literally jumped at the chance and then roped Megan in for a bit of moral support. Being as she has been dancing since she was 3 and the day included some full on 1:1 mummy time Megan couldn't stop smiling!
One of the joys of having children is you get to inflict all your favourite old movies on them. I loved ANNIE as a child and remember desperately wanting to have ginger curly hair and the voice of an angel. (I did inadvertently achieve one aspect through my teens when experimenting with VO5 colour shampoo!) Like many of our old skool classics Annie has been given a new modern hip hop vibe. ANNIE stars Academy Award® winner Jamie Foxx (Best Actor, Ray, 2004) as New York City billionaire Will Stacks, who takes in a foster kid to boost his image while campaigning for mayor. Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis plays Annie, a young, happy foster kid originally left by her parents with the promise they’d be back for her some-day. The “hard knock life” she’s experienced living with mean foster mom Miss Hannigan, played by Cameron Diaz (Shrek), has also made her into a savvy, street-smart New York City kid.
Megan and I set off to Pineapple Studios to learn a routine to “It's a hard knock life” which is now a song neither of us can't stop singing! Pineapple Studio is like steeping back into a time warp! It's old, full of character, has a distinct lack of toilets, changing rooms and air conditioning! BUT what it lacks in mod cons it makes up for with style, charisma and history.
Megan had a blast learning the dance routines and I awkwardly attempted to look cool and suave strutting my stuff. If you don't believe me check out this video!
You can now bring home ANNIE, the heart warming tale of rags to riches, reinvented for a new generation of fans on Digital HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD what better way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday.
