A Wild Adventure | Avon Country Park

Posted on

Regular readers will know we love nothing more than going on an adventure. Most weeks we make a trip even if just for an hour after school to Avon Country Park or Moors Valley. There is so much to do and I don't mean the parks, trails or ranger led activities I'm talking about just being a child! Running free in the wilderness, building forts, playing tennis with fir cones, climbing Rapunzel's hair, skimming stones the opportunities are endless. Children don't need anything – the forest and their imagination and they are set for a day of magical mystery!

This weekend we took our trusty friends from ChelseaMamma to Avon Country Park we keep saying we will take them and haven't got round to it. Kara was armed with her magnificent camera and took a lot of photos here's what they got up too.

and jumped in muddy puddles!

And this is just the start of our adventure! Being outside and exploring the world around us, getting busy with nature, having fun and using our imagination are all key developmental skills your child should learn.  They don't need anything! To be honest my children don't even have appropriate clothing half the time! If they get muddy or wet we go home naked in the car and have a bath!

We have been a member of Dorset Wildlife Trust for a while now and have got involved with a new campaign - 30 Days Wild ( #30dayswild ). Sign up, get a pack and see if you can spend 30 days in June doing something wild! From planting flowers to make your garden wildlife friendly, to walking in the woods, to making art from collected shells there are so many ideas and we will be blogging our days here on Charlie Moo's.  So what are you waiting for? Can you make June wild?

  2. I've just read the otherside of this post! I love how you and Kara take the kids out for the day together, you clearly all have such a lovely time and the kids get on famously. Moors park looks packed with things for little minds to develop. a great day out. Thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.
