Since I can remember we have always bought the children magazines. First they would be selected by the free gift on the outside and as they have got older subject matter is a main priority. Charlie like Lego and Horrible Histories, whilst Megan prefers a craft based or princess magazine. For Olive, there are 5 key features a magazine mus have.
An engaging or useful toy on the front.
Colouring in pages
Dot to dots or letter recognition activities
Characters she knows and likes
Designed to inspire and entertain 2-4 year olds, Fun To Learn First Friends is a new, high quality children’s magazine. Featuring well-loved characters from the world of children’s books and entertainment, by award winning pre-school publisher, Redan Publishing Ltd. Olive was lucky enough to receive a copy before it hit the shops.
FTL First Friends is aimed specifically at toddlers and is carefully designed to help adults encourage and support children’s early learning steps. Each themed issue will contain stories, rhymes and activities specifically aimed at fostering key learning skills, with notes to guide parents in how to inspire their children by recording and rewarding progress and extending the activities into other aspects of their everyday lives.
After carefully removing the Very Hungry Caterpillar tea set which is designed to encourage active role play, Olive couldn't wait to get stuck in! She loves nothing more than laying on the floor for a spot of colouring. I was really impressed with the quality of the magazine and Olive really enjoyed the mixture of activities and stories. She loved the Abney and Teal story where some words were replaced with pictures so she could happily join in or make up her own words around them.
FTL First Friends Magazine will retail at £2.99 (which is a great price for a magazine) and is aimed at boys and girls aged 2-4 years. It will be available from all major and independent newsagents and supermarkets NOW like literally a few days ago!
