Until we moved we'd had a small person sleeping in our room for about 7 years! There had always been in one corner some kind of small crib or cot and then in the other my home office, meaning we have never had a proper bedroom. Sadly this past year our bedroom now devoid of a home office and a small child has become a dumping ground. A place piled high with boxes, that either haven't made it to the loft or have arrived from Nanny C who is moving.
There are so many other jobs that need doing and I haven't a clue when it comes to DIY, I know we will end up living beneath the boxes for a while now! But through the joy of Pinterest I can at least dream!
(It doesn't normally look this tidy!)
Our window is a major bug bare of mine as the curtains don't sit right. Part of this is to do with the window being against the wall on one side. The curtain pole sits awkwardly and the curtain doesn't meet the wall letting in a slither of light every night. Our curtain pole is also a bit thin and started to buckle which doesn't help! We also decided to recycle the curtains from our previous home which were pink, I dyed them blue to match our colour scheme. All in all a year later and we need an overhaul! We also don’t have any tie backs so they just hang there limp and annoying me even more! GAH! (PS. I know the bed is off centre, but I have unit out of shot oh and yes we need a headboard too! )
Really we could do with some nets up to give us a bit more privacy but I'm not a huge fan of nets! We get a lot of light through our bedroom and the window is split into 4, 2 large sections that open and 2 smaller rectangles. These smaller rectangles might be the perfect fit for some stained glass window decals. You can get some really beautiful designs and the light shining through would bounce some lovely colours thorough the bedroom. Pinterest (damn you!) is a great way for finding unique, frugal and upcycled ideas I'd never have thought to use rustic hanging basket brackets to frame the corners of the window but they look amazing!
I'm toying with the idea of doing away with curtains completely and having some kind of blind. VELUX Blinds has some gorgeous options and in a vast array of designs and colours, I love the Disney range but I'm sure Daddy Moo would draw the line here! Maybe one for the girls room! Blinds help reduce the clutter around the window which would give us more light and open space around our bed, directly under the window.
Ideally I need the 60 minute maker team to come and spruce our house up! Failing that I'll just keep pinning ideas onto my Pinterest board!
