Since Megan moved dance school in April she swapped Modern for Disco and well she's hooked. She loves the high energy routines and can be found practicing her splits whilst watching The Next Steps. So when deciding a theme for her 8th birthday party it was obvious to have a dance one. Of course I started with a Pinterest board!
We hired a hall and the services of Limelight Dance Academy who offer a wide range of dance themed parties including Frozen themed. Megan was really keen to have a “proper” grown up dance party so we went for a disco theme.
Food & Cake :
As per usual I went for the food box option. It's so much easier, tidier and there if less waste. I choose black and hot pink as a colour theme. The boxes also made a nice feature on the party table amongst the cake, glow sticks (what disco party doesn't need glow sticks!) drinks and presents! I had some homemade bunting from Paint Sew Glue Chew which I hung on the wall behind.
Cake! Megan wanted a chocolate tray bake which didn't really scream birthday party or disco theme. Armed with some washi tape, twine and licorice wheels I cobbled something together! I think it looked pretty awesome! (OK that photo isn't great!)
We had an abundance of glow sticks and Miss Anna had organised medals for the children so I cheated and went for sweetie tubes. Sweetie tubes are a really easy idea and can be a lot cheaper than filling party bags. They work well for parties where the children receive items such as medals, certificates etc ….
Miss Anna really made the party fun and it went so fast! The children all took part and learned a dance which they performed at the end for the parents. Between learning sections they had their nails painted, glitter tattoos, played party games – musical chairs, pass the parcel, limbo and even parachute games! Seriously I didn't have to do anything and except take some photos and drink tea with my chums!
Megan had such a brilliant time and that really is the main thing. On this occasion spending our whole budget on the entertainment was really worth it we didn't do anything and the turnaround was so fast the children didn't have time to get bored. I highly recommend Limelight Dance Academy.
