Day and Night AR Globe | Review

Posted on

Charlie has been asking for a while for a globe as he loves looking at the world and learning about other countries. When he was younger I found one for the bargain price of £1 at a carboot sale, only once we got it home we realised it was really old and that Europe had changed a lot since then #mummyfail! Regular readers will know that Charlie likes to pretend to be Tim Peake in his spare time, so when we were asked to review the Day and Night Globe from Oregon Scientific it seemed perfect.globe 2 in 1

By day it's a globe (all countries correct and present), turn it on and by night it displays 88 Constellation. Charlie really enjoyed seeing the constellations in this fashion as sometimes it can be hard to understand on a flat picture whereas the 3D aspect of the globe really captured his imagination. The light generated is both low and soothing making it a perfect night light too. What mini Tim Peake wouldn't want to fall asleep to constellations.Constellations

The globe is well labelled with lots of information in a clear easy to read fashion, which is handy as there's a lot to fit on. However what's even more amazing is that you can download free an app too (available on both Apple and Android). The app enables you to unlock Augmented Reality content including animals, landmarks, dinosaurs and weather facts! Plus, there's extra fun to be had exploring flags and taking on fun challenges. It really brings the globe to life and enhances the learning aspects. There's a quiz section too where the children can earn points for answering questions, making the globe a fun family game too.Globe AR2 in 1 Day and Night globe really is Double the Fun!Powered by 3 x AA Batteries or an optional USB Power (Adapter not Included) the 2 in 1 Day and Night Globe is priced at £29.99 which I think is a real bargain and makes a great present for Christmas. It's made of strong plastic but has a good weight too it so it feels pretty solid.
