Mums in Business Exhibition - The Press ReleasePosted on Wednesday Oct 7 21:00:00 BST 2009 Listed under: Networking Mummies Dorset Calling all mums with an entrepreneurial streak, National Business Mum Week is coming to Dorset! This year sees the first ever Business Mum Week, a week of activities and meet ups across the UK. This week is dedicated to women who balance business with family life on a daily basis to ensure a better future for their families. The Networking Mummies Dorset run by Joanne Dewberry, 28, mum of two and Mum of one Laura Morris, is ensuring the mums of Dorset are included.
Laura and Joanne will be hosting a Business Networking Exhibition on Thursday the 8th October from 7pm - 10pm at The Village Hoteland Leisure Club who have kindly offered the venue free of charge. Local businesses havedonated prizes for a raffle raising money for Julia's House and the first 100 entrants will receive a goody bag. Free copies of the latest Business Mum’s Journal will be available and any mum who has ever wanted to run her own business from home and there will be opportunity to meet (and question!) other ‘mumpreneurs’ like Joanne and Laura, in a friendly and relaxed environment.
The exhibition will include local businesses run by mother's, training advice and support for those looking to start a business or are already established.
Laura Morris, of Rentabuggy and co-organiser of Dorset Business Mum Week says: “Business Mum Week is a great initiative and I’m happy to do everything I can to unite the business mums of Dorset and ensure more local women with children are aware of the family friendly working options out there.”
Joanne Dewberry, of Charlie Moo's added "As Networking Mummies meet twice a month as it is joining with National Business Mums Week seemed like a perfect opportunity to showcase our members aswell as providing user friendly information for those mums and women interested in starting their own business."
MumsClub founder, Jane Hopkins, says: “This is the perfect time for Business Mum Week. With so many redundancies and the future potential for job losses, it is an important time for families to have options. Being self employed is the perfect way to combine family life with generating a second income. Women now have the freedom to get paid to do something they love. Great for household finances, great for self esteem, great for work-life balance. Starting up from home is low cost, low risk and incredibly rewarding. The dedication of our local mums has been astounding. Credit crunch? What credit crunch?”
